My 2 Favourite Photos from 2023

It’s that time of year again when I show you my two favourite train photographs that I had taken last year in 2023.

During 2023, as always I try and get out to photograph all diesel and steam tours here in South Devon. I also enjoy taking train photos on the South Devon Railway and Dartmouth Steam Railway.

Out of steam and diesel trains my favourite is the steam trains, but I do also like to get photos of the diesel’s too.

Please take a look at my other train photos on my website. I hope you will like many more.

These two photographs have been taken with the Canon 5D MK4. The lens I used for both photographs was the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM.

Here are my two favourite photographs that I had taken in 2023, one is a steam train, the other is a diesel.

Like many other people, I love taking photos of trains passing Goodrington Sands on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. I am never the only one there with a camera! A steam train always looks good climbing there.

On the 3rd of June the weather was great when the steam tour arrived. The sun was out and it was very warm!

If you are new to photographing steam trains please have a read at Ultimate Guide: How to Photograph Steam Trains

Photo Info:

LNER Class A4 No: 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ with 47712 on the rear is seen at Goodrington Sands on the Dartmouth Steam Railway working the 1Z27 07.40 Slough to Kingswear ‘English Riviera Express’ tour on the 3rd June 2023.

Dawlish is a nice place to be at for railway photographs. There are many places there you can take your train photos, this spot is one of my favourite.

The weather was OK here on the 29th of May. The sun was out and the water was shooting a bit high!

Photo Info:

33029 and 33025 is seen passing through Dawlish working the 1Z25 0700 Burton-on-Trent to Paignton ‘The Crompton Torbay Venturer’ tour on the 29th May 2023.

Conclusion

Well, do you like them? I really hope you do.

As always, I am looking forward to take more Rail Tour and Heritage Railway photographs in 2024. I hope that there we will still be a good amount of tours coming down to South Devon again.
