My 2 Favourite Photos from 2021

As always, I try and get out as much as I can to photograph all sorts of trains down here in South Devon.

The same as I did last year, my favourites include one steam loco and one diesel train. This year we have had a lot more rail tours down here than last year. It was nice to see all of them, even if the same train came down a few times.

As always, like all railway photographers, out of all my photos from this year, I do have many more photos that I am pleased with. Sometimes it makes it hard to decide which is the best.

As usual, these two photographs were taken with my normal camera, the Canon 5D MK3. The lens I used for both photographs was the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM.

Both of the photos were from rail tours and are not shown in any particular order. They both are my favourite from this year, 2021.

The location I took this photograph at is local for me and great to be at. Any steam locos climbing up Rattery Bank just outside of Totnes usually shows off with a nice amount of smoke. This makes the photograph look even better.

Mainline Steam Train

I personally love the colour of this Midland Pullman HST. This train stands out really nice at Goodrington. This location, I personally think is probably the most photographed spot on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. When the HST was in site the path I was standing on for this photograph was absolutely packed with other railway photographers.

Conclusion

Well, do you like them? I hope so. What is your favourite steam and diesel train photo from this year? Feel free to let me know below, thank you.

Roll on 2022 for the rail tours that are due to come down to South Devon. Hopefully I will be out like many others to get some great train photos.
